Details:
Nora Moore Lloyd, collaborating artist for exhibition Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak/Chicagoland, will discuss how she develops and shares Indigenous history through her artistic practice. She will touch on the journey towards intergenerational understanding that her attention to storytelling and community has fostered.
This program is part of our Community Day: Gichigamiin Indigenous Nations Museum and Block Museum of Art.
Block Gallery Talks offer a close look at select works on view centering the interdisciplinary questions, perspectives and expertise of artists, faculty, staff, students, and community members across Northwestern and beyond.
Participation level – light, participants may choose to share thoughts and questions during the gallery talk.
Programs are open to all, on a first-come first-served basis. RSVPs are not required, but are appreciated.
Co-presented with the Gichigamiin Indigenous Nations Museum.
About Nora Moore Lloyd
Nora Moore Lloyd (Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, born 1947) was trained as a photographer and videographer. She works in multiple mediums to create artworks that document the stories of Indigenous elders and to connect with cultural practices related to harvesting birch bark and wild rice. Nora has been an active member of Chicago’s Native American community for decades.
Woven Being is part of Art Design Chicago, a citywide collaboration initiated by the Terra Foundation for American Art that highlights the city’s artistic heritage and creative communities. Lead support for Woven Being is generously provided by the Terra Foundation for American Art. Major support is provided by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
