(Ridley Scott, 1982/2007, US/Hong Kong/UK, DCP, 117 min.)
Set in a 2019 Los Angeles, Detective Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) searches for dangerous renegade android replicants (nearly indistinguishable from humans) who wish to prolong their lives. Released in the Post-Star Wars science fiction boom, Blade Runner wasn’t immediately embraced by audiences or critics. In the three decades since its release, the film has become a recognized classic, inspiring other filmmakers and leaving an indelible mark on the science fiction film genre. Block Cinema is screening the 2007 “Final Cut Edition,” director Ridley Scott’s preferred version of the film.
