Details:
This galvanizing 2017 documentary turns a spotlight on the role of Palestinian women in leading non-violent protests against the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank in the late 1980s. The film is centered around the experiences of Naila Ayesh, an activist whose arrest and torture by the Israeli army coincided with the first stirrings of the uprising. Bacha builds upon her firsthand testimony through animated sequences, family dialogues with Naila’s son Majd, and remarkable archival material. In person: Suhad Babaa, the film’s Executive Producer and Executive Director of Just Vision.
