 On June 23rd, Block Cinema will co-present an evening of silent film with Domitor, the international society for the study of early cinema, for their annual conference.

Domitor, the international society for the study of early cinema, has partnered with The University of Chicago and Northwestern University to provide venues for its annual international conference. See film line-up for June 23rd screening below.

A selection of films from the EYE Film Institute, Amsterdam (48 min.)
All films will be shown in 35mm. Titles are in Dutch with live simultaneous translation.

A Pictorial Study of Hiawatha (Katherine and Charles Bowden, 1904, 25 min.). A partial reconstruction of Katherine and Charles Bowden’s illustrated lecture (1904-08), organized by Andrew Uhrich and Artemis Willis. Featuring original lantern slides from Valparaiso University, 35mm restorations from Chicago Film Archives, lantern projection by Terry Borton and musical accompaniment by David Drazin, based on music composed by Frederick R. Burton for the Hiawatha pageant performed in Desbarats, Ontario by the Garden River Ojibway community in 1902 - 1903.
